VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteers are valuable whether they work a few days a month or a few hours a year! Most volunteers are needed during the day on week-days; however, there are some things that need attention on any day.
Volunteer jobs can be tailored to the skills and interests of the volunteer. While Workshops offers a work training and employment program, there’s not always enough work for everyone. Volunteers are needed to hold “classes” --- usually from one half to one hour long --- that provide interesting and sometimes educational activity for program participants.
For example, during the week, a volunteer could:
- conduct an art class (drawing, painting, designing greeting cards, paint murals, sculpt in clay)
- make puppets and have a puppet show
- make paper airplanes and have a flying contest
- make jewelry
- teach scrap booking
- read something fun to a group
- play a musical instrument or conduct a music appreciation class
- teach drama and perform a skit with the group
- lead group games like Bingo (with or without prizes)
- teach “life skills” from our Life Skills Book
- work in our clothes closet, hanging and straightening donated clothing
Or after hours and on weekends, a volunteer could:
- paint inside or outside areas
- maintain the flower bed in front of the building
- help maintain property
- rebuild our bus stop
