INSTRUCTIONAL FORMAT
This topic will provide instruction and discussion on how a person should look on the job. Chapter 4 of Job Savvy provides the necessary information and exercises to teach the importance of looking good on the job. The information can be modified for different learning abilities. For example, for the exercises on pages 60-62, a trainer can cut out pictures of different workers from magazines and ask students to identify what is appropriate attire for different work settings. Show a picture of a nicely dressed person in an office and a person in jeans and a work shirt at a construction site and ask which person is appropriately dressed to do cleaning and picking things up. If needed, trainers should also provide instruction on how to purchase appropriate clothing.

  1. Cover the information from Job Savvy in Chapter 4.

  2. Instruct students on how to make sure they have proper clothing for a specific work setting. If they do not have the proper clothes, provide instruction on how to get work clothes. Use task analysis provided. These skills can be practiced if the student is getting ready to start a new job. If the person is not going to be starting a job soon, the trainer can review the information in a way that relates to the student's job field. Keep in mind that some students may need some additional training on shopping.

SIGNS OF GENERALIZATION
Students come to work looking appropriate every day.
