PROPER ATTIRE
TASK ANALYSIS

  1. Call the person who hired you (supervisor/boss/person who interviewed you).

  2. Ask the person what type of clothing is required for the job. If a uniform is required, ask:

  3. Write down the information or get someone to assist you.

  4. Check the clothing you have to see if you have clothes that meet the requirements of the job.

  5. If you do have the clothing – Is it clean? Is it in good condition? And, do you have enough to last between washes?

  6. If you can't answer yes to all of the questions in number 5, then you have to consider buying new clothes.

  7. See how much money you can spend on clothing. Consider thrift stores if you are on a limited budget. It is important to get durable clothes for some jobs. For example, you may be better off buying a $25 pair of Dickie© work pants that last a few years than a pair of $15 sweat pants that last less than a year. You may want to refer to the "Comparative Shopping" lesson in the Money Management unit for further instruction in this area.

  8. Make a list of what clothes you will need.

  9. Look in the paper to see what stores have sales on the clothing you need.

  10. Shop at different stores to see where you can get the most clothes for your money.
